Post-Mortem Of Om Puri's Body Being Conducted At Cooper, Cremation In Oshiwara At 6 PM

Veteran actor Om Puri’s body is currently at the Cooper Hospital for a post-mortem.

Shabana Azmi who is at the hospital took to Twitter to update us on Om Puri’s last rites. She wrote, “Puri Undergoing Post-mortem at Cooper Hospital. Will be taken to Trishul around 3pm Funeral at Oshiwara electric crematorium around 6pm.”

 

Actor Sushant Singh - General Secretary, CINTAA was also at the hospital. While talking to a section of media he said, “No words. Spoke to him last evening, and was supposed to meet him tonight as he wanted to be updated about CINTAA. This morning got the news, devastated."

The veteran actor was 66 years old and the reason of his death was a major cardiac arrest. The entire Bollywood is mourning his death.

Karan Johar, Anupam Kher, Rishi Kapoor, Shabana Azmi, Madhuri Dixit, Preity Zinta, Madhur Bhandarkar, Shoojit Sircar, Vishal Dadlani, Onir and PMO India took to Twitter to pay condolence to the actor.

Om Puri was last seen in Sunny Deol’s Ghayal One Again in 2016 as ACP Joe D'Souza and also appeared for a short role in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Mirzya. His work in films like Aastha, Arohan, Ardh Satya are highly acclaimed. His comic roles in films like Hera Pheri, Singh Is King, Malamaal Weekly, Action Replayy were masterpieces.

Om Puri has appeared in mainstream Bollywood cinema as well as Pakistani, British and Hollywood films. Born in Ambala, Haryana, to a Punjabi family, the actor made his debut in a Marathi film Ghashiram Kotwal in 1972. The critically acclaimed actor was one of the prominent names of parallel cinema that changed Indian cinema in the 1980s. A two time National Award Winner, the actor was honoured with the Padmashri in 1990.
